Redact PDF — for real.

Mark ID numbers, card numbers, bank details, addresses or names. Every page you redact is rebuilt as a clean image, so the text under the black box is gone — it can't be selected, copied or extracted.

Frequently asked

Is this a real redaction or just a black box?

Real. A black rectangle drawn on top of text leaves the text in the file — anyone can copy it out. Here, every page with a redaction is rendered to a high-resolution image, the boxes are burned into the pixels, and that image replaces the original page. The original text, fonts and vector drawings of that page are not in the downloaded file.

What does the automatic detection find?

Israeli ID numbers (9 digits with a valid check digit), credit card numbers (checked with the Luhn formula), IBAN bank accounts, Israeli phone numbers and email addresses. Names and addresses can't be detected reliably, so mark them by hand.

What metadata is removed?

Title, author, subject, keywords, the software that created the file, creation and modification dates, XMP edit history, bookmarks, attachments and scripts.

Will the rest of my document stay selectable?

Yes. Only pages that contain a redaction become images. Pages without redactions keep their text — unless you tick “Flatten every page”.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Detection and redaction run in your browser; the PDF is not sent to our servers.
